What is the JPG format?

JPEG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images. Adjusting the degree of image quality from 1 (=low) to 12 (=maximal) allows to make a decision between storage size and image quality. JPEG images are often stored with factor 10, this will reduce the storage size significantly by a little perceptible loss in image quality.

JPEG doesn't allows a transparent background. The color space is adjustable between CMYK (best for printing) and RGB (best for screen), even it's possible to include color profiles like Web coated, Fogra coated, Adobe RGB, sRGB and many more.

The term "JPEG" is an abbreviation for the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which created the standard. The MIME media type for JPEG is image/jpeg, JPEG files usually have a filename extension of .jpg or .jpeg.

Our images are stored as JPGs with RGB color space and a image quality factor of 10. This settings generate images with a wide spectrum of colors, a high quality and a medium file size.

What is the PNG format?

Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression.

PNG supports palette-based images, grayscale images and full-color non-palette-based RGB images. All with or without an alpha channel for transparent backgrounds. PNG was designed for internet and screen design and therefore only supports RGB color space.

PNG files nearly always use file extension PNG or png and are assigned MIME media type image/png. PNG was approved for this use by the Internet Engineering Steering Group on 14 October 1996, and was published as an ISO/IEC standard in 2004.

What is the SVG format?

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a XML-based vector image format for two-dimensional graphics with support for interactivity and animation. The SVG specification is an open standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) since 1999.

SVG supports CMYK and RGB color space with fallbacks. SVG allows three types of graphic objects: vector graphics, raster graphics, and text. It offers a page description language like Adobe PDF and can be edited offline and online.
All major modern web browsers have at least some degree of SVG rendering support.

Our icons and illustrions are delivered in a vector and RGB based SVG format, best for lossless scaling and use in screen and internet projects.

What is the EPS format?

Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) is a more-or-less self-contained, reasonably predictable PostScript document that describes an image or drawing and can be placed within another PostScript document. It includes a low-resolution preview to allow programs to display a preview on the screen.

EPS allows transparent backgrounds and the use of vectors and rasters in the same document. EPS can use CMYK and RGB color space with embedding color profiles, but it isn't possible to display EPS nativly in browsers.

Our icons and illustrations are delivered in a vector and CYMK based EPS format, best for lossless scaling and use in printing projects.
